Jenny Nutbeem

Jenny is probably best known for her sumptuous silk and velvet scarves, richly coloured using indigo, mineral salts and reactive dyes. The distinctive patterns are produced by pleating and binding the cloth before dyeing, and adding detail with a brush.

Originally inspired by traditional Japanese design and textile techniques, Jenny's work reflects the unique qualities and colours of the Suffolk coastal landscape.

Her designs and working methods have evolved from a concern with the environment and a no-waste philosophy, and she has become increasingly conscious of the need to re-use and recycle. This has led Jenny to explore a new area of work using, among other things, coffee packets and dyed woollen blanket.

Jenny also produces quirky one-off greetings cards using ephemera, found materials and watercolours.
